Kia ora koutou,
We have had a busy few weeks of learning in Rūma Weka. Our tamariki have been taking on lots of new challenges and have enjoyed taking part in lots of different expereinces. Below are some pictures that capture some of our fun:
Music: For the last few weeks we have been joining Rūma Piwakawaka and Whaea Marianne to learn about the difference between a rhythm and a beat. We have also been enjoying praciting these skills using our rākau sticks.
Science: Our students loved making slime using cornflour and water.
Art: We have been learning about crayon and dye, as well as warm and cool colours. We have been creating images from our Pūrakau (narrative) of Poutini and Waitaiki.

Welcome back to school Rūma Weka tamariki! Term 3 begins....
We have had an amazing return to school and beginning of Term 3. It is so wonderful to see the ākonga (students) in our class beginning to grow in confidence with their learning. Maths - Measurement (Length)
In Rūma Weka, we have been busy learning about measuring different lengths. Our students are learning about millimetres, centimeters and meters and have been using this knowledge to create some brilliant pirate ships. The tamariki (children) decided that the length of the ship would be 10 meters long and used their 1 meter rulers to begin their measuring. It was such a fun and engaging activity and everyone has enjoyed learning about measuring length. This week we will focus on centimeters!

Tuhituhi (Writing) - Term 2 (2023)
This term we have been focusing on descriptive writing. Our ākonga (students) have been learning to use words to describe the Big Bad Wolf from The Little Red Hood. We have been learning to use WOW words in our writing to make it more interesting. Keep up the good work team!
Science Week 2023
The students in Rūma Weka had a wonderful time during Science Week. Here they are making 'fireworks in a jar' and experimenting with adding drops of dishwashing liquid to a mixture of milk and food colouring.

Our Term 2 Week 2 Mahi
We have been working super hard in Rūma Weka and taking part in lots of different learning.
Our tamariki loved baking Anzac Biscuits during Anzac Week and learning lots of different things about that period of time.
We have also been doing some different science experiments, everyone enjoyed seeing the fun reaction between baking soda and vinegar.
We also recently had a week where all of our students were present, so we took the opportunity to take a class photo. What a great team we have! Ka rawe!
